Optimisation of distribution and storage
The experience of the employees of the Institute of Transport is used in the design or reorganisation of goods storage and distribution systems. This includes issues such as shaping policies and the optimisation of structure, stock levels, as well as storage processes and procedures. We carry out audits and assessments of existing structures of goods distribution networks and design optimal end solutions. In all the areas, we use single-criterion or multiple-criteria optimisation techniques, multiple-criteria assessment tools, and process design and simulation tools

Design of dedicated logistics solutions
We participate in the implementation of projects aimed at the development of end-to-end transport and logistics solutions, compliant with the customer’s specification and the design objectives. For this, we use the available engineering design techniques and tools (optimisation, simulation, and decision-making support techniques) and carry out R+D work. Typical solutions in this area include: the design and implementation of route planning optimisation algorithms, construction of palletised unit loads of the MIX type and sandwich pallets, design of rolling stock replacement policies, and support of do-or-buy decisions regarding transport services. The Institute of Transport’s area of competence also includes the design of solutions for end-of-life vehicles recycling networks and the organisation of recycling processes.
Sustainable transport planning
We offer comprehensive transport development solutions. The area of competence of the Institute of Transport employees includes: planning solutions for public transport (including: stop locations, transport network design, travel model development, financial feasibility analyses) and private transport (e.g. electric vehicle charging station locations), and planning the transport infrastructure (e.g. interchange solution simulations, road system solution assessment). Our executed and implemented projects include: transportation plans for the Greater Poland Voivodeship and the Gniezno county, assessment of the Rataje roundabout redevelopment variants, assessment of the road system in the vicinity of a car factory, and the research methodology for a study on public transport in the Łódź region.
